Back in January, I posted a tip about how you could pin our blog to your Windows 7 task bar using IE9. Besides giving you a cool icon on the taskbar to launch our site from, this also gave you a jump list menu to different parts of our site by right-clicking the icon.
Well, Windows 8 makes things even cooler. Try this out.
Open Internet Explorer (the Metro version) from your Windows 8 Start screen and hop on over to our site… if you’re reading this, you’re probably already there, but still.
Next, tap (or click) the little Pin button on the IE menu bar (if you’re using a mouse, right-clicking anywhere brings up this menu bar).
You’ll notice a cool little UI showing you what the tile will look like. You can even adjust the text that will be displayed on the tile! Now, tap/click the “Pin to Start” button, and voila, you have a Glance and Go Radio tile on your Start screen!
But wait! It gets even cooler. Launch our site from that tile, viewing it in the Metro version of IE. Now, click that same button on the menu bar that you used to pin the site.
It now gives you the same jump list that you get on the desktop version of IE, letting you jump directly to other parts of the site. Awesome. Of course, you could just use the menu on our site to jump around, but this is just neat.
